Placement Survey

Information

Hours of operation and lab availability: Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday 8:00am to 2pm. (Hours are subject to change based on observance of holidays, summer school schedule and proctor appointments.)
The placement survey consists of a 10 minute video and a short survey. It takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

Parking: Students need to purchase an all-day parking pass for $2.00 located in Parking Lot A (off of Spring Valley Rd.) The yellow ticket dispenser is located at the end of the solar panels.

 

CELSA ESL

ESL – (English as a Second Language ) CELSA test (Combined English Language Skills Assessment)

The CELSA test is 45 minutes long and consists of 75 questions. No appointment is necessary. For further questions contact us at 760 245 4271 ext. 2367 or assessment.center@vvc.edu

 


Assessment Test Exemptions

(Placement Survey)

To be exempt from completing the placement survey, one of the following must apply to you.

  • Completed an Associate of Arts or Sciences degree or higher at a regionally accredited college or university
  • Completed the equivalent of at least Math 90 and or English 101 here at Victor Valley College or at another regionally accredited college or university.
  • Currently enrolled at a regionally accredited four-year college/university.
  • Have EAP results of "Ready for College" in English and/or Math.

Ability to Benefit

Ability To Benefit **EFFECTIVE JULY 1st, 2012 Federal Student Aid (Title 1V Funds) will no longer be offered to ATB students who enroll into a program of study on this date or after. Per Federal Regulations.

Ability to Benefit students are those students who do NOT have a high school diploma or a GED and are NOT enrolled in a K-12 grade AND are applying for Federal Financial Aid.  Federal regulations require ATB students to sign up for the ATB ACCUPLACER Test to receive proper information regarding their financial aid eligibility status.  It is advised to schedule your ATB Test during the morning sessions to ensure enough time to complete your test.  Federal regulations also require ATB students to provide a current photo identification card in order to take the test. Birth certificate and social security card are NO LONGER VALID forms of ID and copies of ID's cannot be accepted.  Students cannot take the test with out proper identification.  Please read below "Proper forms of identification" to find out what can be presented as an ID.

Proper Forms of Identification:

To test, ALL students must bring a current and valid photo identification card.

Examples of Valid Identification:

  • DMV Driver’s License/ID
  • Federal/Military ID
  • Passport
  • Photo ID/VVC or other institution
  • Tribal Card
  • Naturalization Card
  • Certificate of Citizenship

 

New Students of 12 years or younger apply in person in Admission and Records. Once you have received your VVC ID number you may take the Placement Survey by providing proper identification (current school ID).

How to find your VVC ID number

Victor Valley College can proctor exams from students taking classes at other colleges or universities. A proctor fee will apply and can be paid at the Bursar’s office.

Returning Students-If you have applied in the past but are NOT currently attending classes (Spring or Fall), then you will need to reapply to have your status updated.
